Craniosacral Therapy

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on healing approach where the therapist partners with you to bring awareness into the natural rhythms of your body. By increasing your body’s awareness to the source of the pain and dysfunction at the physical, mental, and emotional level, there is an opportunity for the body’s innate intelligence to restore health.

It is born from the principles of Osteopathy and includes influential advances in neuroscience, human development, prenatal and perinatal psychology, and trauma resolution. CST takes a whole-body approach to these fundamentals and works directly with the natural healing capacity of the body.

What to expect during a CST treatment?

During a session, the client, wearing comfortable clothes, will lie down on a massage table (most often on their back).  The therapist will use a variety of hand holds to best meet the client’s needs.  The holds can help relieve restrictions, freeing up deeply held patterns in the body.  Releases from the body can sometimes feel hot or cold,  and at times, not always, can include shaking as the nervous system discharges held energy. Most often though, the sessions feel deeply relaxing.

Who is CST best suited for?

The therapy is safe for all ages, from babies to the young at heart, and can be effective for both acute and chronic conditions. CST can support your health journey on whatever road you find yourself on, including: improve sleep, ADD, ADHD, Trauma, PTSD,  neurological disorders, anxiety, dental realignments (braces), low mood, autoimmune disorders and more. Often the simplest way to describe CST is a nervous system reset, which we could all benefit from, from time to time.
